Wind Chillin'
Gang,

When the weather report says 18 degrees, gusts up to 39 MPH and wind chill of 4 degrees, believe them.

Me so tough. Me lasted exactly eleven minutes out there. GAWD.

It was the wind mostly. Yeah, the cold got to me in the end, but geeeze, when you trikke your best, and you're still going only 2 MPH, it is an emotional challenge for me. Can't even do a 360 without the certainty that at some point in that circle you're going to be facing that wind, however momentarily, and it will exact a huge payment in momentum.

I've tried many strategies, but the only thing I have come up with is to trikke where the buildings shelter a parking lot from the wind, but today, even that didn't work -- what with the 39 MPH winds whipping around the corners. I try very hard not to get angry, but narcissist that I am, I deeply feel that the wind personally gets off on doing this to ME. I mean, how dare it, right? I try to say to myself, "Think of it as just going uphill," but no hill I've ever climbed shot painful daggers of ice up my pant legs with a palpable glee.

Brutal 11 minutes....came in sweating from top to toe.

Bronkk's wheels turned noticeably slower, so that "bearing problem" was aggravated by the cold and was adding to the load too, but with no wind, 18 degrees will be very trikkeable. I think probably down to zero degrees or below a bit will still not be a problem. Last winter I only had my 8, and didn't get outside that much in deep winter, but with Bronkk, only ice and snow can really give me pause now, and even though this morning's run had a lot of drifts and ice patches everywhere that were a bit too numerous to play with them like they were slalom pylons, I still was able to trikke with some hard carving.

I'm betting I'll have almost 95% trikking days this winter compared to the 8's 60% last winter.

Stay tuned. Doubtless I'll cold trikke for the sake of accumulating winter trikking knowledge and report on it again, but I'm not going out there in such a wind again!

I'm willin to be chillin , but a froze nose is going too far.
