Trikking Oddities
|
|
Has anyone had much success with trikking oddities? A. I stop my Trikke on a slanted surface facing uphill. I release the brakes and start to roll backwards. As I do this, my rear legs/wheels start to close together until one of them suddenly springs outwards to its correct configuration. I'm practicing allowing the wheels to spring outwards without it stopping my backwards rolling. I do this by taking my foot off one of the legs/wheels, and this allows it to jump out. For unknown reasons, this is fun. B. Another hill trick is to roll backwards in a circling move and then snapping at the right moment into a downhill-forward direction. I'm not good at this, but I can see that with practice I should be able to do this fairly quickly. It feels cool. C. I tried reversing my front wheel and trikking like that. I haven't done this since I first got the Trikke when I did it by mistake. Well, WOW, try it out now, gang, and you'll find it is a very very strange little goofy thingy....very odd actions from that front wheel....it resists turning and insists on coming back to "true" unlike the "regular" Trikke "desire" to "stay with a carve." Try it. Quite fun. D. Riding forwards while standing backwards on the Trikke. This is a very strange feeling. I can do about two carves only so far. E. Whipping the Trikke's front end around to do a 180 by either scraping it along the surface or actually jerking-lifting up the front-end enough to do the move in the air. Very tricky if you want to have your weight on the correct foot when you land the front wheel, and the brakes are needed too ...., er, well, perhaps.....I'll let you know -- if I ever can do this well enough. F. Stilt walking on the back wheels with brakes on. Can be done, but have yet to get more than two steps. The Roadster's bunny hopping trick comes to mind here. Others? Of course, but I haven't tried or imagined them yet....why.....because I can't do everything now can I? Come gang, tell us what kinds of nutty stuff you're trying with your Trikkes. Edg |
